The Landmarks Foundation of Centerville-Washington Township is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to the preservation of historical and architecturally significant buildings and properties in the City of Centerville and Washington Township community of Ohio in Montgomery County.
The foundation began as a committee of the Centerville-Washington Township Historical Society -- now known as Centerville-Washington History. In 1995 the Landmarks Foundation was created by Martha Boice, as a separate entity to focus solely on architectural preservation.
Landmarks Foundation has an office area at the Asahel Wright Museum, 26 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459. The Landmarks Foundation was one of four community groups involved with the City of Centerville in renovating this early (c. 1806) stone building. The preservation and reuse of this historic structure is another example of our mission "Preserving the Past for the Future."
Our founder, Martha Boice, was honored by the Centerville Washington Foundation with the Founders Award in 2020. This award recognized her educational and advocacy efforts that have led to greater public awareness of history and historic architecture in our community.
One of Martha's favorite sayings was "Who will speak for the houses?" we hope that the Landmarks Foundation can continue to be that voice!
